Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and manual treatment. It is based on a thorough knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
How can osteopathy help you?
Osteopaths use their highly-developed sense of touch to diagnose and treat restrictions of mobility in the body using precise and gentle manipulations. One of the osteopathic principles is that the different body components, muscles, ligaments, joints, organs, nervous system, blood and lymphatic vessels and conjunctive tissues, are inter connected to form an harmonious unity.
If the mobility of one of these structures is disturbed, it will affect the others provoking compensatory mechanisms through the body resulting in an imbalance of the general health.
This can lead to symptoms like aches and pains at or away from the dysfunctional body part.
How does the osteopath work?
After a thorough case history taking, a general health screening (medical tests, X-rays...), palpation tests, an osteopathic treatment plan is decided in accordance with the patient.
The osteopath will then work toward restoring mobility to the area that lost their elasticity and flexibility properties.
The chosen technique of the osteopathic treatment is always the most adapted and comfortable for the patient depending on his/her age, body type and the area that needs attention.
You might be asked to remove some clothing, near the area to be treated.
